Writers, poets and artists (ages 14+) — we need you
HeARTscribe runs on the generosity of young creatives. Our volunteers are the bridge between a child's drawing and the poem, story or comic it becomes.
What volunteers do
- Listen to children talk about their artwork during workshops
- Write short poems and stories inspired by the drawings (we train you — see The Power of Words)
- Draw comic adaptations of children's stories
- Help assemble our monthly HeARTfolio editions
- Advocate for kindness in annual anti-bullying campaigns
What you get
- Real experience in creative writing, illustration and youth mentoring
- Training in creative listening and working sensitively with younger children
- Volunteering hours and a reference for university applications
- The give-back moment — reading a child their own poem — which our volunteers say is the best part of their week

We welcome volunteers of every artistic style and experience level. If you're 14 or older and you care about kindness, you're qualified.
